Alphabet with Beans

A preschool classic – glueing beans to make letters or numbers.  Sean loves letters.  I mean LOVES them.  He is not a big TV watcher but he clocks in about two hours of YouTube videos a day on letters. I know, that’s a lot of hours but I do need to shower and eat during the day too.

It’s a pretty easy activity to set up.  I played with the font size on Word and printed out six letters per page.  I used a light gray for the font color so Sean can see the letters but the color won’t overpower the beans.  They sell bags of mixed beans and part of the project is for Sean to sort through the beans to get the colors he needs for each letter.

I squeezed glue on the letters and he placed the beans on the glue.

I was only planning for him to do three letters but he actually threw a tantrum to finish all the ones on the page so Andy helped him finish the rest of the letters.  Did I already mention that he is obsessed with letters?

  1. How cool! Beancounters of the future.

  2. I think he actually would have finished ALL the letters in the alphabet if you had more letters/beans.
